Hardwood floors are an excellent choice for your home. They add elegance and beauty to the room that can be breathtaking. So you’ve heard about solid hardwood and engineered hardwood. What’s the difference? At Servi-King Carpet, we can answer that question.

Two different types of hardwood

Solid hardwood flooring

The solid hardwood is one where the planks for the floor are all the same thickness. They are wooden planks laid down with a tongue and groove system, so they all fit together. Then they are glued or nailed down to the subfloor underneath.

Engineered wood flooring

Engineered hardwood is one where the top layer is the desired piece of species. Underneath it is several layers of wood that are put together in a crosshatch position to fit together when installed. These pieces of wood underneath are fastened together with resin.

Wood floor appearances

We have a wide selection of hardwoods to choose from. From oak, hickory, maple, cherry, and walnut, to name a few. You can choose from the various species that have their personality in undertones, grains, and knots. Each species is different and unique. Each can add a little something special to your room.
